126 in association with GIAF cordially invites you to the official opening reception for MESSAGING by Victor & Hester. This show forms the third exhibition in our Primary Resource curatorial arc. These artists were selected by our collaborator Transmission (Glasgow) as an artistic group whose practice best exemplified the ideals of Transmission as an Artist-Led organisation. You can find out more about Primary Resource and the other participating organisations here.
Victor & Hester have installed a number of spatial interventions in the space at 126, which includes: objects, specially commissioned texts, film work and audio. The exhibition, which is intended for reception as an experiential whole, emerged from Victor & Hester’s distinct practice of creating a rich dialogue around texts, with their collaborators, which forms a diverse, evolving dialogue via Googledocs. The resultant installation is the product of these discussions around a rich variety of subjects: science, feminism, economics to name a few. This process of conversational consideration has set the tenor for a different kind of space that stands as a gentle juxtaposition to the frenetic activity of ‘festival-season Galway’.
It looks like fine weather in Galway this evening, so we’re hoping to set up the bar outside, on Flood Street. Cocktails will be on ice, the board of Directors and our brand-spanking-new interns will all be in attendance, so please come and say hi.
We’ve conspired with Galway Arts Centre to bring you a bumper evening of the finest new Visual Art. Don’t forget to visit their opening of Martin Healey’s Terrain (at 6pm) before heading over to 126 for some cocktails in the sunshine. We’ll be continuing on to our kind sponsor Bierhaus afterwards to continue the party.
