Artists from Ireland, the US, Scotland and Brazil were selected for the inaugural GMIT Centre for Creative Arts & Media Summer Residency Programme that took place during June, July and August 2014.

On Saturday the 6th of September several of the artists will present work developed while on their residency in CCAM. The exhibition will take place in 126 Gallery and will be open to the public from 11am-6pm. In addition to the work on show, there will be a reading of a paper by Christina Mullan at 12.00pm. There will also be a screening of a film by Conal Carey and other artists will informally discuss their residency experience throughout the day.

The residencies provided opportunities for the artists to research and develop their practice in the privacy of their own studio while having access to GMIT’s library and editing facilities. The artists selected for the programme were Conall Cary, Heather Macali, Marielle McLeman, Christina Mullan, Tassia Bianchini, Elodie Rei and the five members of Itsa Collective (Betty Gannon, Joanna Hopkins, Amanda Rice and Ian Wieczorek were based in the Mayo campus).

ARTFarm is an annual open submission opportunity extended to artists by 126 and Sheila Flanagan (generous owner of the beautiful house and grounds that is ARTFarm). On Sunday the 7th of September from 2.00pm the ARTFarm will be open to visitors. Visitors will be welcomed to the ARTFarm with a tour of the grounds by Sheila Flannigan and a informal presentation by Ramona Burke and board members of 126 about this unique residency and future plans for ARTFarm. Sheila and Ramona have generously offered to provide food and refreshments for visitors to the ARTFarm Open Day, so if you could please contact 126 to let us know you’ll be making the trip out it would be much appreciated (

ARTFarm is located in a rural and secluded setting in Cloonkeen, Newbridge, Ballinasloe, Co.Galway. It comprises a farmhouse with additional studio space of a large open barn and a shed/workshop space.

In August 2014, 126 were delighted to announce that the ARTFarm Residency was awarded to Galway based artist Ramona Burke.
