This coming weekend (6 & 7 Sept.), there will be two events focused on the summer residencies at both the Centre for Creative Art & Media (GMIT) SUMMER RESIDENCY PROGRAMME and the 126 ARTFarm RESIDENCY (Galway County).
The events will take place on Saturday 6th with an exhibition at 126 Gallery and Sunday 7th with an Open Day at ARTFarm, Newbridge, Co. Galway.
SATURDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER
– CCAM SUMMER RESIDENCY SHOW & TELL
@ 126 Artist-Run Gallery, Flood St., Galway. 11am -6pm
Artists from Ireland, the US, Scotland and Brazil were selected for the inaugural GMIT Centre for Creative Arts & Media Summer Residency Programme that took place during June, July and August 2014.
On Saturday the 6th of September several of the artists will present work developed while on their residency in CCAM. The exhibition will take place in 126 Gallery and will be open to the public from 11am-6pm. In addition to the work on show, there will be a reading of a paper by Christina Mullan at 12.00pm. There will also be a screening of a film by Conal Carey and other artists will informally discuss their residency experience throughout the day.
The residencies provided opportunities for the artists to research and develop their practice in the privacy of their own studio while having access to GMIT’s library and editing facilities. The artists selected for the programme were Conall Cary, Heather Macali, Marielle McLeman, Christina Mullan, Tassia Bianchini, Elodie Rei and the five members of Itsa Collective (Betty Gannon, Joanna Hopkins, Amanda Rice and Ian Wieczorek were based in the Mayo campus).
SUNDAY 7th SEPTEMBER
